Centrifugal fans with backward curved impellers feature a few large blades curved opposite the direction of rotation. Scrolls are not necessary for them to create the airflow because they gain pressure within the impeller envelope, while inlet rings are common accessories with which pressure losses and air leakage are minimized. Seemtek backward curved centrifugal fans are used in high-speed applications with good air efficiency.
